Who we are
Fovea runs this website, a free study resource for optometry students preparing for the NBEO Part I, Part II and Part III exams. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
What we collect
- Your account: the email address you sign in with and, if you give one, your first name.
- Your practice: when you are signed in, the answers you choose, your scores, the time a session took, and your study plan settings.
- Your messages: what you send through the contact form, including your email, an optional name, the topic, the message and any question code.
- Sign-in records: the one-time links we email you and the sessions they open.
- Visits: we count visits with privacy-friendly analytics that do not use cookies and do not identify you.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep your results, topic accuracy, review queue and study plans.
- To reply to your messages and fix questions you report.
- To understand which pages and tools are useful, in aggregate, so we can improve them.
Emails
We email you a sign-in link when you ask for one, and we may reply to messages you send us. Our emails may include a small tracking image and tracked links that tell us whether an email was opened or a link was clicked. We use this only to understand whether our emails reach you and are useful. Sign-in links are never tracked.
Cookies
This site sets one cookie, and only when you sign in: a secure session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is removed when you sign out or after 30 days. Practice without an account sets no cookies.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the providers that host this website, its database and our email delivery, so they can run those services for us.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and practice history while you use Fovea, and messages for up to two years, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Sign-in links stop working after 20 minutes and sessions end after 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and practice history, through the contact page. We aim to reply within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
